The forum we have opened a week ago was pretty much just a test and the results are: The software we tried sucks but you guys are great to hang around with. I hope we can change the f1st and keep the 2nd. Therefore we have a new forum which is way more stable and feature rich. You can finally upload your photos, embed videos subscribe to discussions and stay in contact with other people with a personal message system.

The downside is: We were not able to move the old topics to the new board. You can still reach them here so feel free to copy & paste everything important. the old board was actually not that old so I hope we can take the loss and move on with fresh topics and hopefully the all people from the old board.

Important: Your milkboys account DOES NOT work with the new forum. I’m honestly sorry about that but I didn’t find any usable software which would allow us to use the WordPress user database :( So you have to sign up for a new account at the board. Your Gravatar goes with you of course.

Just a quick note:  If you want to use an image you found at milkboys in your blog you are free to do so of course. But please upload it to you own server instead of linking to the image on our server in your blog post ‘cause we have to pay the traffic for your post if you hotlink  the image to us – and that’s just not nice ;)

And while this is your decision we would really appreciate if you link back to us if you get your inspiration for a post from here :o) Some people are using 4 or 5 images a month and don’t even linked us in their blogroll, shame on you :p

It’s quite interesting to see how – for instance – people decide if they watch a video from YouTube on milkboys or not. If there is a shirtless boy in the preview picture it will get most likely a hell load of clicks, some videos with a promising preview were viewed up to 20,000 times from milkboys. Other Videos without something obviously related to milkboys were viewed only 1,000 times while some of them were really great. No surprises here and I won’t even expect that every reader views every videos, reads every article etc. but the fact that some people – most people – are missing the things which I think are so awesome bothered me for a while.

For Example the music + photo posts like “In Exile” below: It happens that I browse my music collection for a full hour to find the right song for a picture to illustrate what a photo means to me with the music — but I’m pretty sure that at most 5% of all readers are hitting the play button at all. But then I realised that if only one of the 13,000 people passing by daily is taking the time to listen to the music, to explore the photo… it wasn’t in vain. If I get the chance to share my passion about a single object with only one person it was worth every minute of the work.

So… You don’t have to read every single word here, it’s absolutely ok if you scroll through milkboys and pick the things you enjoy. That’s what it’s made for: Your joy. And I’ll be happy if I get a comment from time to time from someone who bought the CD of an artist featured here because he liked the music so much or who watched a film because he read about it on milkboys.

That’s what makes this blog so precious for me: The chance to share my passion, to touch a life slightly sometimes.

Nous avons décidé d’ utiliser un système d’ inscription au lieu de l’ancien système utilisant avec des mots de passe. 95% du contenu vont rester accessible pour tout le monde. Mais il va devenir necéssair de s’inscrire pour voire le contenu contenant nudité. En future il vait avoir en plus bénfics pour les utilisateurs inscrits. Commentes ou écrites un e-mail quand tu as des questions.

Indication concernant la sphère privée: Quand tu ne veux pas utiliser ton adresse e-mail privée, tu pourrais employer un service qui serve les adresses e-mail anonymes comme BugMeNot Mail.

As you know there are quite a lot gay blogs around. So it’s no surprise that you’ll see some photos or videos twice if you check a few of them. Maybe two bloggers found the same photo somewhere or maybe one blogger took a photo from another blog. Some people out there don’t like the fact that others post stuff that was on their blog earlier but that’s how the Internet works. I saw whole articles taken from milkboys posted elsewhere but that’s ok, information should be free to everyone and I take it as a compliment if others post my stuff. And if they use photos I featured on milkboys before… well, I didn’t make most of them by myself so who I am to judge? I don’t own them and my mission is to spread the beauty – that’s exactly what happens.

But there is one thing every blogger could do to prevent dramas like this one and show a little bit respect to the scene :) If you post a photo or video just put a link to the place where you found it under the post. I don’t know the source in any case but if  I know the creator or at least the site where I got a photo/video I’ll post their link. It’s easy, it’s fast and it’s makes the blog scene a little bit more friendly :)

Wie der geneigte Leser sicherlich weiß, gibt es recht viele schwule Blogs. Diesem Umstand ist die Tatsache geschuldet, dass man das eine oder andere Photo oder Video unter Umständen zwei- oder dreimal zu sehen bekommt, wenn man sich ein bisschen in der Szene umtut. Vielleicht haben zwei Blogger das selbe Photo irgendwo entdeckt, vielleicht hat ein Blogger ein Photo in einem anderen schwulen Blog gefunden. Einige mögen sich nicht damit abfinden, dass Inhalte, die sie in ihren Blogs geposted haben in anderen Blogs wieder auftauchen aber so funktioniert das Internet nunmal. Ich hab schon ganze (recht ausführliche) Artikel von milkboys in anderen Blogs wiedergefunden aber das ist ok, Informationen sollten frei sein und jedem zur Verfügung stehen. Ich nehme es eher als Kompliment, wenn  andere Dinge für veröffentlichenswert halten, die ich geschrieben habe. Und was Photos betrifft: Ich hab die meisten nicht selbst gemacht, wer bin ich also über andere zu richten? Sie gehören nicht mir und es ist meine Aufgabe die Schönheit in die Welt zu tragen – und das ist schließlich genau das, was passiert.

Es gibt allerdings eine kleine Sache, die jeder Blogger tun könnte um Dramen wie dieses zu vermeiden und der Szene etwas Respekt zukommen zu lassen. Wenn ihr ein Bild oder Video posted, tut einfach einen Link zur Quelle drunter. Ich weiß nicht immer woher ein Bild stammt aber falls ich den Urheber oder wenigstens die Seite kenne, von der ein Bild oder Video stammt, das ich poste, verlinke ich diese auch. Das ist einfach, schnell und macht die Blogosphäre gleich ein bisschen freundlicher :)

We’re back… don’t ask me why it needs up to 5 fucking days to transfer a simple domain while you can fight wars on the other side of the world without leaving your couch *sigh* However, here we are and everything should be back to normal quite soon. I’ll use the transition period to re-upload some videos and photos which were deleted by YouTube, Flickr & Co.  The sidebar got a slightly overhaul too: I removed some dead links and added RSS-Feeds to the blogroll which let you see when a blog was updated.
