I had to re-run the video a second time to get the actual drift. The title "The Closet" immediately passed me by as to its meaning. Of course I know its meaning! But, ‘it still passed me by’. Must be due to my age, being, pretty much as old as the fellow in the video. Then, as the film progressed, that androganous little character came out of 'the cupboard' in such peculiar, unexpected fashion. First time round I viewed ‘the cupboard-boy’ as a little girl with which the little boy then locked (in unlikely manner as I saw it, so peculiarly) their little girl/boy fingers. There’s nothing to be gained by old fogies coming-out? Once you’re past ‘your pretty prime’ best to stay in the cupboard and twiddle your own two little fingers to yourself.

I kinda know how you feel,

Lately I've been thinkin' and now, for me, to come out, is a silly idea. Ok it Is true that you're going to be much more free to say and act how you feel is the others know you have certain sexual preference, but It is not absolutely necessary.

Coming out many times only generates problems, moreover if you do it openly..., I think you just need to be who you really are, "autentic", with your friends, maybe with some part of your family, etc, I don't think it is completely necessary to say "hey mom I'm gay/bi/whatever" I think it is enough if you respect other people feelings, and continue acting just like you feel you are, if youare gay/bi/whatever they're gonnay know it, indirectly, and believe me it is much more easier for some ppl to live with dubts, than dealing with an unaccepted truth.

I've cameout with some people and I've been having many different reactions, some good, some bad, some HORRIBLE, and some "unespected", everybody is different, and what i can conclude of everything is that, "ok, I haveto share moments of my life with many ppl, but, do they really care about me?" the answer many times is not, believe me, if you have a real friend and he don't really know you're gay/lesb/whatever but he knows you very well, accepts your personality, accepts you as a whole pearson, sexuality is just a tag... an add-on of life.

aaanyway if you have msn or so,itwould be cool tochat someday maybe, mm write me/add me shadenboy@gmail.com

I loved this short film... I'm still in the closet. I don't know how my parents, friends, and family will take it if I were to come. Jr. High is tough right now because of the teasing... they tease me for being a nerd and nothing more. I can only imagine when I come out... I don't think me coming out will happen...

This is why we need to do everything to get equal rights in the world. Some of us are weak and we need those bold people to fight for what is right!

At last, someone else got the roles figured out! It is plainly obvious that the older man is recalling his youth, triggered by the ball coming over the hedge. He returns to the present day and is wistfully amused at the gay couple, and what could have been for him had events of his childhood taken a different course.

And, I agree with Josh; why do you assume the older man is German? I saw nothing to lead me to that conclusion. This appears typically American.

This video is AWESOME!!!

The older gentleman is NOT one of, nor related to, any of the younger characters. He's remembering his own youth - at least 50 - 70 years earlier.

His detailed memories allow him to both see and to feel how it was when he fell in love in the 1900s - 1920s, before a dictator took all of that away from him. He loved a boy, with semi-societal approval, until Hitler said that such a love wasn't acceptable.

In his dotage, he sees that young people have recovered a small part of what he might have enjoyed, and he is pleased beyond words!!!

Search: Magnus Hirshfeld and Paragraph 175 of the German Law

All of my life, my fondest wish has been to guarantee that my grand-children or my great-grandchildren could dare to express their romantic and sexual affection for a same-sex friend, when they first felt the urge, without having to fear the total social ostracism and inherent dangers that I knew when I first wanted to kiss Jeff (and he damn sure wanted to kiss me)!!
