Like most good things this ad comes from Sweden ;) It’s a part of the Friends Campaign. Check out sCandy Boys to see the Swedish original and another video from the campaign. Thanks to Declan who posted this on the milkboard!

It appears to me that Family.ca is a Canadian Site and also since the language used is English it seems to me that it comes from Canada rather than Sweden.

The ad is Swedish but was translated for Canadian TV as you can figure by reading the text I posted under the video (with a link to the Swedish original).

this ad was all over tv here in Canada a few years back. i wont get into an argument about if its from canada, or sweden, but either way – atleast the people here put it on tv :) lol

No need for an argument, it was made in 2001 for the Swedish Friends campaign according to their site, their other videos can be found here.

What a beautiful ad…
I like the music in the original Swedish ad much more. :D

Mmh, Josh, are you really sure that this ad is from Sweden? It much rather appears to be Canadian, I mean, they’re talking English all the time, aren’t they?
Seriously: a great ad I can even totally identify with [no worries, I'm the dying one ;P]!

YES, they speak English because the ad was DUBBED xD
This is the original:

Oh dear God, that was an ironical way of making fun of the wise guys who felt that they had to enlighten you with their realising that this video can’t be Swedish, even though you had already explained everything in the post itself. *rolleyes*

Bullying aside, white-haired boy is incredbly hot!! :3

That ad is outstanding! In High School, which seems a century ago now, I was bullied until one of the tough guys got tired of watching the crap and let it be known that there would be no more of that unless they wanted to tangle with him.
Needless to say I love the ad. And the little guy ain’t bad either. What a cutie!

Josh, you really touched my heart with this one. I had not seen it befor but it really hits home. Thank you.

Im sure the music in the original Swedish ad was also in the film Dream Boy.

Those may be the tamest bullies in the history of bullying.

My thoughts exactly.
Jeez! When I think of what I suffered through my school days, often in the sight of teachers who didn’t bother, (presumably) thinking it was all part of growing up. Probably on the basis of “well, I went through it as a pupil, and it did no harm to me” – without realizing what we know now, that is that the harm it did is perpetuated in how the behave and react with their pupils, and maybe even their own offspring.

Bullying takes all forms, not just physical beatings. Do not kid yourself that words mean nothing. They are often more powerful to a young mind than a fist or bat. Abuse is abuse. I was abused verbally and emotionally, probably because the kids sense something different that make the other vulnerable. I don’t know, maybe it starts with being sweet and genuinely happy. All I know is that by junior high, I was a wreck. Unable to stop the beatings, teasings and humiliation in the boy’s lavatory. Something changed then…I went to Senior High, and if I was looked at sideways, I put the kid down – hard. It made for a very lonely period. I hated it and I hated High School with a passion. I was 6′2″, 210 lbs and strong. I can still remember the last beating I took the year before. I promised my self it would never happen again, ever.
Don’t think that what that boy did to the red head was insignificant. He is alone out in public, away from his support, and he is small, feeling small. Confidence is bred inside out. He does not feel strong because he is a red flag flapping in the breeze. When the other boy, with friends and at home in public with others, colours his hair to match the other boy, he is saying, “Lay off that kid. He is one of ours.” Classic animal adoption behaviour, in a moment of compassion, he brings the outsider in, gives him a place and security in the troop. Besides verbal communication, it may be the one thing Man has that made him the survivor he is, the ability to feel compassion, to empathise associatively with someone in pain, and having the ability to bring them into the security of the pack.
No… no one ever brought me in. I have been and always will be a lone wolf on the outside looking in. But they will never put me on my back again. Never.

Something like this happened in real life in Canada: Pink Shirt Day

I don’t know, maybe I read about this first on Milkboys?
