I got some angry messages lately because I didn’t reply to mails “within time”. I’d like to point out something related to this in general: contrary to popular belief I don’t do stuff related to milkboys 24/7. I do spend several hours a days doing different things for the blog(s), the forum, the chat and so on but I do this in my spare time and for free. Of course it’s a part of my life and most of the time it’s fun (I wouldn’t do it otherwise naturally) but, to be totally honest, it annoys me if people get demanding about it. I know most of you appreciate what you get without a doubt but there are quite a few people who seem to think I owe them what I do here and that they have a right to get whatever they ask for and as soon as possible of course.
Yes, I’m slow with responding to mails and yes, the blog posts were a bit boring lately. But I can’t do a thing about this at the moment. I have a lot of things to sort out right know about my life, my education and whatnot so the people who are whining because they don’t get what they want have to live with that, if they like it or not.
On a more positive note I’d like to thank all the people who help me keeping things running. The moderators in the forum and the chat, the active members of the community who take things into their hands by helping other members, making constructive suggestions & even starting their own projects related to milkboys and last but not least of course the donors who are kind enough to pay for the server. Everyone of you is a vital part of what we are building here, regardless of if you help with money, time or your energy. It’s your enthusiasm that animates milkboys!
And personally I’m happy that some of you even became great friends to me. It’s amazing to meet awesome people from so many places all over the world, might it be Holland, Scotland, Sweden, England, Australia, Japan or wherever else, you know who you are :) I know this applies not only to me, quite a few of you even found a loving boyfriend within the community and if that doesn’t make all the work worth it…

I’ve never talked on the forums or given money or anything like that, but I really do appreciate your work and your site! I stop by at least once a day, and I just wanted to say thank you.

vielleicht dies: wenn man in einer erwartungshaltung ist immer als konsument bedient zu werden, dann fällt es extrem schwer selbst etwas auf die beine zu stellen oder sich an vorhandenem zu beteiligen.
vielleicht, was ich sehr gut finde, hast du bisher einen hohen maßstab gesetzt, den anspruch auch an dich selbst hochgeschraubt. und wenn dann mal eine zeit der normalität kommt, dann denkt der eine oder andere vielleicht, daß es langweilig wäre. aber von außen betrachtet isses nicht langweilig. nur die ansprüche der konsumenten sind extrem gestiegen.
ich wünsche mir, für dich, daß dein reales leben an erster stelle steht. weißte schon, frische luft zum atmen.
und wnen du dann etwas zeit und lust hast, dann kannste hier ja was für uns/dich hinzaubern.
dir gilt mein dank. denn auch wenn mal nix auf deiner seite passiert, ich schau täglich drauf und such dann halt im archiv oder in den links die hinterlegt sind. langweilig wirds einem nie :-P.

YOU and the Mods do an amazing job keeping our community moving forwards. 99.9% of us understand you do a sterling job keeping milkboys the loving place that it is today, as for the other .1% they should get out there and do some volunteer work in their spare time and see how much “me” time they have.

I understand perfectly what you mean, but the demanding commenters obviously don´t have a life in the real world!.
And no blogs of their own to deal with, day in day out, 365 days a year.
Or deal with a job or education or just needing a well deserved little time-out to recharge…
I´d say, be more firm and block their I.P.adress after one warning, that´ll send a signal to all the other type-o-negatives!.

I love Milkboys, and I have donated money from time to time – not as much nor as often as I would have liked to – and I even think I have thanked you for the site in the past as well :)
but it is worth saying again – the site is great, and if there was some way that Milkboys could provide you with a living, or at least make a profit, that would be amazing and I would do whatever I could to support it.
You made the right point. A blog with such a lot of lurkers cannot be managed by one man alone.

How many ways are there to say thank you? I didn’t realize until now that yours was strickly a
labor of love. Milk Boys is definitely my favorite website; better than all the rest. I’ve noticed
in my work that unfortunately the happy people are the silent majority. Keep on going, man.
We love this blog. We’re happy with it. We’re grateful. We don’t want any unhappy people around here souring the atmosphere. In fact, we don’t even want to hear your side of it. If you don’t like the way Josh is handling this, go somewhere else or start your own blog. Good riddance. Josh doesn’t have to do any of this and he shouldn’t have to waste his time with ingrates, malcontents and malignant narcissists.
Now, about that photo. OMG could 3 boys be any HOTTER with their clothes on? One’s imagination just takes off and keeps on going…

Hey, Josh, I hate that people are flipping you static. I for one understand that if you answered every email you probably get through the site, you would not have a personal life. I do appreciate what you do. This site is not just about pretty faces, but there is a lot of great info and artistic and funny stuff. I am sorry that I have not been able to contribute yet, but it is something I will do in the future (things are kind of tight here in the states). I love what you do. Please do not let self centered, drama queens (sigh, why does the pride have so many of them????) steal your peace. I for one have to be in the closet for a variety of reasons, and I look forward everyday to see what little treasure you drop on us. It helps me feel connected in a small way to the community.

I know how you feel. Having run similar sites and now shotalicious, it’s sometimes difficult dealing with the demanding public. Many are ungrateful. Many are dumb. And of course many are outright dicks.
But remember, in the end, you shouldn’t be doing any of this for us. Yes, we may benefit. We may come to love your work and you through it. But you do this site for yourself. It’s the only way to stay sane.

And we are… Living on the Isle of Man – the smallest community with THE MOST old fashioned out look on life (”come on Joe, you’re 18 – you should have a steady girlfriend and be thinking about settling down soon, son…” – Yeah Dad, keep dreaming!) – living in such a … restricted community makes Milkboys my saving grace! I think most of us appreciate what you are doing, as is. One thing I’ve learned about the Inet is that it gives everyone a chance to get into tiffs over nothing. No wonder major wars were more common during the letter-writing period of history. It is easy to get miffed when you do not understand exactly what the other person meant–there are no facial expressions, no tones of voice, no easy conversational corrections, “No, no I meant–” And as time goes by, we sometimes think we are being snubbed or ignored, and hurt feelings stew. In my various Inet endeavors, I cannot get back to everyone, and not every comment deserves a response–some stand alone, and the author should be proud of that. But people get in a twist.
I think Milkboys is a core experience for many Inet lurkers and socializers. You somehow find pictures and videos that aren’t already saturated on the web, although once you post them, they will be heavily reposted. If this takes you longer to get around to than those that just gyp and paste all day, that is fine with me. Keep doing what you are doing. For those of us with little resources, all we can do is admire and give you morale support…
Josh, Milkboys has changed my life dramitcally. Without this site i wouldn’t off found out my true sexuality. This site has the support and care of others, of all (well most) age groups.
You’ve done a great job with the forum, blog and chat. Dont let the people hurt your feelings. Besides, i have a solution.

Keep in mind that by its very nature, MilkBoys is seen by the entire world and that’s a whole lot of people – not all of whom are necessarily the nicest or sanest folks. 99.9% of us – myself included – genuinely appreciate the time and effort that it takes you to maintain such a fantastic site! It is so easy to be distracted by the tiny minority of a**holes, and forget the fact that your work touches the rest of us in such a positive manner.

I’m sure you’re aware how many important functions this blog serves… exquisitely and unfailingly: people may be demanding sometimes, but evidently they’re not the ones using this site for its intended purposes. Part of the magic of milkboys is what springs up in the wake of your creative leadership. Please don’t let the most vocal guys steer the ship!

Holy Cow~! How stupid can some people be??? I hate selfish people! I have no means to support this site in monetarily at this time. But I have told 3 close net friends and my brother about Milk Boys and they love it! That’s how I support Milk Boys; talk about it to friends. I am having troubles in my finances at the moment, trying to keep afloat with helping a young man peruse a career as a pilot with flying lessons and I’m here to tell you they aren’t cheap! I’m helping by splitting the cost with him as he can not afford them by himself. I’m honored to help him in his life. This site keeps me sane. And my young man has seen the site and understands why I find some young men beautiful. In fact he is very awesome looking himself :) He’s ok with me being bi and I’ve seen “questioning” behavior pop up at times with he and his friend. I was glad to share the site with him because it’s a safe place to share feelings in the forums and blogs. He read quite a bit tho he claims not to be interested lol. Who knows, he might already have a nick and not have told me haha.
Milk Boys is the best site of it’s kind I’ve ever seen on the Net and I’ve been online since 1996. So tell the “Me First” people to “KICK ROCKS” and hit the road! Freekin impatient little monsters! I know how much work it takes because I had a site (in my name) at blogspot for several months but the demands of keeping it going were just to great. We may not have to worry much longer, however, in the USA. Latest news from our capital is that our President is trying to now push through a bill that will give him total and exclusive authority to at any time block any websites or shut down the internet nationally or regionally just on his say so merely by saying its in the interests of national security. And this is the man that I voted for because I thought he was something new. I guess all politicians are the same power hungry grabbers. Keep the site going as best you can. We love your work.

If you do not write at your blog we all are sad because we do not know what you want to tell us. So we ask you what you want to write. And when you write there will be some request to that what you have written.

Josh, I have been coming to milkboys for 6 months now. I live alone and this site has given me some very enjoyable moments. I feel very close to you because you share so much of yourself with us. I could tell u many moments that u picked me up. I have never meant you but you make me want to be a part of your family, and i am, by being here on milkboys, we are a kinda an extended family. I am not weird or anything like that, I am a gay guy who is lonely sometimes and this wonderful site helps relieve me of that feeling. Like some of the other posters have said, you make a difference to some guy’s lifes in so many positive ways. That’s your reward for doing the fantastic stuff you do, all these suberb comments that so many other people have put here are great in themselves but are surely such a bonus compared to that.

no Josh….it didn’t come across that way at all……you’ve done a fantastic job showing the world that being gay isn’t just about sex, porn, drugs, and booze (a lesson i wish would pick up here)…..and by providing a place where people can visit, blog, post arty photos (or find anything else they’re looking for) without backlash from the provider. Call it a community if you like. That’s why i dropped you an email to see if you’d gotten enough to get your birthday present……and if you did but had to lay out a big chunk of your own coinage……i’ll make up the difference. You’ve done wonders for a lot of people (including me), and frankly, given how much time and your own funds you’ve had to expend to make MB what it is….well, it’s Josh’s turn for a change….. *HUGZ*

I know exactly what you mean. I have the same experences. Though I post on a regular, almost dayly basis on my blog and 2 other forums. People are so demanding and I received agry mail because I did not respond (quick enough)!!? I have a business to run 12 h./6 days and a private live too. I do not ask anything back for my efforts and the only thing what makes me going are the positive responds and some nice friends to chat with.
Keep up the good work and I wished I had the time to work more closely with you, anyway thank a lot for the help and support you already gave me with the back-up blog.
