Austin didn’t know what to wear to his first gay dance last spring. It was bad enough that the gangly 13-year-old from Sand Springs, Okla., had to go without his boyfriend at the time, a 14-year-old star athlete at another middle school, but there were also laundry issues. “I don’t have any clean clothes!” he More >

I don’t understand . What is so bad about sending pictures .
As to underage – hate that word.
If an individual voluntarily – out of complete free will likes to share and show himself on the web.
So be it !
It’s a whole other matter when someone is forcibly put into porn – against their will , that is indeed rape .
And these people doing the forceing should be struck down by lightening!
All this hyper control freakout from the government is complete and utter insanity.

You’re absolutely right, 3robin.. I couldn’t have said it better.
I also think that if we weren’t so “oooo taboo” about sex and nudity in this country, it wouldn’t even be an issue.. I say, big fucking deal! It’s a penis! Who cares.. I have one too.. or it’s a set of breasts.. about half of the world has a set of those..
People need to chill the fuck out if you ask me..

Another perverse result of the moral panic infecting the anglo world. It started as a guilt-driven response to stories of generations of institutional child abuse in churches, children’s homes, schools etc. It became hysterical when baby boomer parents realised the implications for their own children of the freedoms they fought for as youth. Parents cannot control their children’s sexuality and it scares them.

Legislators enacted some ill advised laws to “protect children.” Aside from the fact their definition of child makes NO sense, prosecutors have proved over and over again they can’t be trusted with the power given them. Instead of protecting children, they use the power to ruin the lives of teenagers for acting like teenagers. It is a total perversion committed by some truly perverse people who have proven AGAIN they can’t be trusted.

Although I certainly understand the panic reactions that a lot of people have with this, I still think they’re overreacting and, more importantly, handling this entirely the wrong way.
You should educate children about this, just like you educate them about everything else. Teach them that yes, sure, it might be fun and exciting, but they should realize the consequences when doing such things. The fact that those pictures can fall into hands of people that they were never meant for and all the consequences that that might have. You tell children not to stick their hands into the fire because it will hurt, leave scars and what not. If they still do it and it goes wrong, that’s really nasty, but they were told the consequences and now they have to take them. Why would this thing with the photos be any different?
I know, I know, it takes effort and energy and thought, which most people apparently can’t handle anymore. Well, guess what? Then you shouldn’t become a parent, dammit!! Take your responsibilities, people and don’t blame everything you do wrong on somebody else and let the government try and fix it.

Most of the parents who are upset that their children are being labeled as sex criminals had no problem with other people being saddled with a scarlet letter. The hypocrisy here is legion.

you’ve obviously all forgotten that humans under the age of consent do not have sexual feelings *rolls eyes*
in all seriousness,
i think most AOC laws are a cop out. somewhere along the line society decided that it would be easier to just ban things, than to actually step up and take a real role in educating the public…in this case, the young public. the thought is…if we just make it illegal, then it will go away? *cough* right *cough*
i just think this entire issues serves to prove that sex is as human as sleep…and that it is the adults who cant handle it…not our youth.
hugs…
