Yea, with a megaphone on the street ^^

  4. littleLucifer Identicon Icon littleLucifer GERMANY says:

true, the time for change has come

  5. fanofgrendel Identicon Icon fanofgrendel says:

But only change we can believe in!
(none of that unbelievable sort of change)
Stand in the streets and bark at the sun!

You say you want a revolution
    Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it’s evolution
    Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don’t you know that you can count me out
Don’t you know it’s gonna be all right
    all right, all right

Let’s all inspire some young teens to firebomb a police car and get their asses blown away.
Need some more of that, don’t we?

As someone who came out of the 60’s who did his own protesting rather than putting children in harms way, I say shame on you all.

  6. Mat Identicon Icon Mat says:

like blogging would of helped civil rights anymore than what happened on the streets and the physical presence of those that had some courage.

Thank you fanofgrendel, I always feel a bit lonely when I read stuff like this…I don’t think a second Reign of Terror is necessary in a nation of free men governed by (and responsible for) fellow citizens. We solve problems in courtrooms and legislatures.

  11. ChaosAD Identicon Icon ChaosAD GERMANY says:

If protest isn´t expensive for the state, the state just don´t care. No matter if you´re alone or with a few millions – they won´t listen if it doesn´t hurt. BUT: Harming people and destroying infrastructure and logistics is something different.
Choose your own limit and don´t be as worse as your enemy.

@fanofgrendel: they even blow your ass away if you have done nothing. Remember Alexandros!

    No peace with tyranny.

  12. dyrcosis Identicon Icon dyrcosis UNITED STATES says:

What exactly are these kids protesting? What manifesto are they shouting? Which underground have they joined?

I am amazed some don’t know the context of these images which were prominent in the news. You have selected the very best ones Josh. My compliments on your excellent taste.

I agree completely with ChaosAD when he says “they even blow your ass away if you have done nothing”!

MrChives, fanofgrendel and dyrcosis just don’t get it. They’re dead in the water and don’t know it.

We should heed the warning of Herbert Marcuse: “The web of domination has become the web of Reason itself, and this society is fatally entangled in it.”

  15. fanofgrendel Identicon Icon fanofgrendel says:

Off with their heads. Off with our heads. And while we are at it, lets send Gavroche over the barricades to collect some bullets from dead National Guardsmen. We need the publicity.

  16. oaksong Identicon Icon oaksong UNITED STATES says:

As long as there are old men trying to make things “right” there will be kids throwing themselves into the cogs to prove a point. There’s clearly nothing new about it, it’s just that the kids don’t know they’re following a well worn path.

The old men will do what they’ve been doing for centuries and likewise the kids will get riled behind one set of ideals or another. Kids don’t have critical facilities and are full of hormones, so they’re easy to point, like missiles, and fired at a target with little regard for the possibility that they will die.

  17. Josh~ Identicon Icon Josh~ GERMANY says:

    @oaksong

“Kids don’t have critical facilities and are full of hormones, so they’re easy to point”

Sorry but that’s nonsense. Intelligence and independence are no questions of age, a LOT of kids are smarter than any adult will ever be.

  18. fanofgrendel Identicon Icon fanofgrendel says:

Not a question of smart, it’s a question of manipulation. There is a reason 18-year-olds were drafted.

    Sargent: take that hill!

    18-year-old: yes sir!

    35-year-old: I don’t think so.

Tbh, without knowing the context, I feel a bit queasy about some of the pictures (particularly #4).

  22. MrChives Identicon Icon MrChives UNITED STATES says:

Adelmus, ChaosAD, and others; We (meaning anyone living in a country with universal adult suffrage) don’t have the luxury that the English had in 1649, the American colonies had in 1776, the French had in 1789, etc. This isn’t resistance to the arbitrary rule of the top 3% of society. If 99% of the people in power are unworthy of high office, it is our prerogative to remove them or replace them at the next election cycle.

As for Alexandros, I join you in condemning this tragedy. Murder demands justice; however, the West doesn’t dispense it with carbombs and Molotov cocktails. From John Adams: “Counsel ought to be the very last thing an accused person should want [be without] in a free country.”

Josh; “a LOT of kids are smarter than any adult will ever be.” and “generalisation anyone?”

…Pot calling the kettle black, anyone?

  23. Alger Identicon Icon Alger UNITED STATES says:

    Yeah MrChives!
Just like it took us 8 years to replace the devil BUSH!
During that time he has created a mess that the world may never recover from… ever!
Bring on the revolution! Greece is the origin of Western Democracy and they understand how to handle the situation even today.
I support the rebellious people in Greece. It’s too bad the Yanks didn’t learn a lesson from them before it was too late.
First Reagan, then 8 years of nothing with Clinton, in fact he kept all the repressive legislation of Reagan-Bush intact and then 8 years on top of that of the worst leader the modern world has known! Bush did what Hitler never could have dreamed of doing and he it did it with the support of the stupid American people. Even now it may be too late for any kind of revolution. Just look around you… anywhere! We are in the midst of one of the greatest collapses in the history of the human race.
    Read Noam Chomsky.

  24. Francis Barrie Identicon Icon Francis Barrie UNITED STATES says:

As usual, Josh understands the situation perfectly.
    Spot on Josh!

  25. MrChives Identicon Icon MrChives UNITED STATES says:

As usual, incoherent vagaries and unfounded claims exhorted at the utmost extreme of hyperbole. Yes, Bush was awful. WE elected him. Twice. Yes, he created problems. “a mess that the world may never recover from…ever!”…? Which mess would that be? If you’re speaking of the worldwide economic crisis, I think you’d be hard pressed to find a hundred people who were 100% responsible, much less one man. If you’re speaking of the various debacles in the Middle East, you need to look farther back for the actual chain of causation. What made him so terrible was that he involved us in the fiasco that’s decades and perhaps centuries old, but he didn’t create it. And I should REALLY like to know what he did that even Hitler never dreamed of. You failed to mention what that was, so, as an educational experience for me personally, please elaborate. If you find yourself unable, as surely you will, then you need to put more thought into call for revolution.

    …”Read Noam Chomsky.” Lovely capstone.

  26. fanofgrendel Identicon Icon fanofgrendel says:

Well, perhaps I’m spot off. Perhaps we really do want to encourage cute teenage boys to go for the glory of throwing rocks at policemen and then, maybe firebombs. That’s worked out well for the Islamist extremists, and it worked at well in Greece. Things are so much better there now.

Meanwhile we can safely monitor the situation while we go blogging. Bad luck if an ugly teenage boy gets hurt.

  28. Alger Identicon Icon Alger UNITED STATES says:

    MrChives, fanofgrendel,
The two of you always land on the most repressive and extreme right wing side of issues. You are such great defenders of the status quo I suspect you must have a vested interest in suppressing people. Maybe you are cops or prison guards. You certainly sound it.

Anyway, take up your case with Josh who wrote under this dramatic picture the following, and he may have had the two of you in mind in doing so:

“Stop the whimpering, go out and do something!”

  29. fanofgrendel Identicon Icon fanofgrendel says:

Last time I looked the unintended consequences of urging rioting and civil disruption were at least worth considering. Civil unrest in the name of “revolution” was used as justification to bring such varied authoritarian figures to power as Nixon and Hitler. If I have served to temper the enthusiasm of sending children into harms way for an undefined and romanticized vision of revolution, then I am pleased with myself.

  30. MrChives Identicon Icon MrChives UNITED STATES says:

Its not about preserving the status quo, its about effecting change -within- a system that is fundamentally functional. We can achieve rights the same way blacks, women, Native Americans, and others did; with the extremely dynamic set of laws that govern this nation (and like systems around the world). Because revolutions -I mean real, honest to god revolutions- generally yield either radical dictators or reactionary fascists. I’m just saying use common sense when you work for progress.

And Josh stopped arguing with me directly several weeks ago ;)
