Austin didn’t know what to wear to his first gay dance last spring. It was bad enough that the gangly 13-year-old from Sand Springs, Okla., had to go without his boyfriend at the time, a 14-year-old star athlete at another middle school, but there were also laundry issues. “I don’t have any clean clothes!” he More >

Amazing as the interactive model Milo is, it’s nothing compared to the models I’ve encountered over the years. Greater depth of personality, interaction, thought process, physical being, et al, is available in something called the real world. For those people who can take the step, actual interaction with real human beings is possible without the security blanket of a lifeless mechanical conduit. And yes, I said “beings”… plural! In this context, it’s possible to interact – successfully -with a multitude of characters simultaneously.
Beyond this amazing piece of the puzzle is the context of the puzzle itself. It takes place in an environment as real as it can possibly be, an environment surrounded by other environments like galaxies, a universe and possible planes which are difficult to imagine in spatial and temporal contexts we’ve generally become familiar with.
Granted, one has to venture out of the house, but the brave amongst us may do just that and find a non-virtual world so fascinating they may never return to the basement.
Science fiction writers, film makers and the like have already experienced this astounding technological advancement. Gamers may not have, but they can …if they dare!

As amazing as this technology is, I can’t keep my eyes of that Ian fellow :P

Pollstan, I haven’t mastered that “real world” yet, that sounds scary and I am not sure I am ready for it…
Milo, help!

Hmm…Nintendo are half way there with this technology already, I think.

The scateboarding dude is quite cute. About the game … i’d rather be riding myself for real .

Haha, surely you must understand that this isn’t going to work? Maybe 50 years from now. If they actually release this it’s going to suck more than power glove; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya0F83Bmbl4

The martial arts game sure looks cool. The problem is the aim of games shouldnt be to imitate real life because they’ll never be as good.

Well, the technology is in fact close to what is shown in the video. What startles me most is that they do again not seem to plan releasing it for PC. It’s just a shame!
Anyway: Great potential! m4rtys: In fact no, Nintendo can only keep track of the wii divices as far as i know. It is a totally different thing to do motion capturing without actually having the person carry emitters that the computer can keep track of. Just imagine what effekts this would have on the movie-industrie. Motion capuring could finally be done while actually filiming the scene. Its truly amazing!

The boys have been around for years, I recognise the Daz3d technology in Milo … to see a couple of very short vids I made a few years ago, go to http://www.youtube.com/user/Rimmer414 … and to see the technology required, go to http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/millennium-boys?item=383&_m=d … the software is free but you buy the models … they *do* do naked – the clothing costs extra! – and they’ll do *whatever* you ask them to do, in amazing 3D, and you can swoop around and view from any angle, and of course you can buy bolt-on fully-functional genitals and make porn if you like, even movie porn (increasingly being deemed illegal) … but beware, this stuff can take over your life, haha, and your entire PC, it takes days to make anything worthwhile, with the processor going full pelt as well, so I’m keeping well out of it and not even tracking down those genitals for you, I’m outta here before it takes over my life again haha … but click around the web (including under the proprietary-software name Poser) and you’ll find awesome stills as well as movies … have fun, but not too much. I want my Milo! a real cutie.

“The technology behind Milo is Microsofts Project Natal”
Well, the input method is Project Natal, but the artificial intelligence is older: Lionhead has been developing the “Dimitri Project” since 2001.

The technology is pretty amazing, but, of course, goes to show how scarily deprived of real interaction our society truly is. That we can interact with a computerised person is something of a step forward for human technology (though, to be honest, less of one than the polio vaccine), but that we can talk to a fake boy doesn’t mean that we should.
The whole Natal promotion is just a spoiler to mess with Wii’s success – The technology wont be ready for several years at least and Milo must have taken at least 30 people three months to animate. Its all a lie (in my view) because as usual microsoft is jealous of other’s achievements.
If you look into daz3d., Poser and the rest, they still have difficulty making STILLS of cute boys (and for legal reasons the avatars don’t have genitals – which is only good if you like eunuch.org stories), so you shouldn’t plan on falling in love with an avatar-to-die-for, anytime soon.

milo is the thing the interest this website I think….Peter Molyneux (The man who is behind the games “black and white” and “fable” (fable is one of the first game in wich you can have gay marriage) ) is the man behind the project Milo AKA the interactive boy.
This project got already all the bad things said….like what about a pedo getting this to J/O having the virtual boy watching him….
Beside, I can imagine a lonely gay kid having this virtual kid as a friend…wich could be good…or not….kinda like this video I saw on here….wich I’ll put the link: http://blog.milkboys.org/article/my-best-friend/
there is a lot to think about all this…
hoping to raise some kind of nicely done debates….
and I also invite the host of the site to contact me…got a lot more to say…
