Sorry for the downtime this morning (CET) folks. Our hosting provider mailed us to let us know that milkboys is using nearly all the CPU power on the shared server we use - there are more than 100 people online here simultaneous sometimes - so something had to be done. They suggested that we should upgrade to another product (WebPack Pro XXL) but € 65 (~ $ 100) per month is, even with your kind donations, far too expensive for us. So we upgraded to a smaller pack (WebPack Pro L) which costs € 20 (~ $ 30) per month and hope that’s ok for the moment.

Josh,
Consider a move to thumblogger.com. They claim to be free, and their main business is “adult” so they have no problems with content. They are based in the Netherlands, so life is much easier.
Just a thought.

Jon, no hosting is free for a site that causes that much traffic :( Besides that there is a difference for most people between “adult” content (good) and conetnt involving youth (bad).
I consider to try out bluehost but have to ask them first if they’re ok with our content.

have you looked at http://www.webspace-verkauf.de? traffic is inclusive with their packages.

mike, I would share a server with maybe hundreds of other sites there, it won’t work better than anywhere else :( It’s not about the traffic in GB, it’s about the serverload.

Huh? Bluehost? Which Bluehost? .com / .org ?
And hey, HostEurope has always been kind to you. And furthermore its so… EUROPEan :D
So show some brand loyalty and let HE keep on hosting Milkboys! ~

The Netherlands is no great bastion of freedom any longer. One has to look no further than the stoning of the Brongersma Stiftung forcing its closure. A friend who knew Brongersma told me the archive itself was moved somewhere but it seems it is not known where nor does it seem that it is accessible for research.
Where can one find some news about the new draconian laws going into effect in Germany?
Good luck with your server problems Josh.
There once were several projects to start anonymous servers linked to each other from various places around the world.
I think “The Freenet Project” is one that seems to be running, but I have not looked into it. http://freenetproject.org/
In particular read their page:What is Freenet” http://freenetproject.org/whatis.html
If you find something useful post it here for us all to learn.

Josh,
Sounds like you are doing good. You are making the right decision to stay with the server people you have a good relationship with. Moving is hardly ever good, if done must be done with great caution.
We guys out here need to pony up some more money for you on a more regular basis. You are doing good for boys everywhere. It is going to take a long time but you are.

Ich würde mir mal Gedanken über Premiumbereiche machen.

@Phillip
Hab ich schon. Aber erstens will ich nicht mit Bildern und Videos die andere gemacht haben Geld verdienen und zweitens will ich keine Zwei-Klassen-Gesellschaft unter meinen Usern schaffen.

suggestion: why don’t you put some ads on the blog? I mean: you could sell space for ads in the blog to make money to pay the server…

@Marco
I really hope we can make it with the donations. Ads on milkboys… that would be somehow… dirty. :(
