New Forum!
The forum we have opened a week ago was pretty much just a test and the results are: The software we tried sucks but you guys are great to hang around with. I hope we can change the f1st and keep the 2nd. Therefore we have a new forum which is way more stable and feature rich. You can finally upload your photos, embed videos subscribe to discussions and stay in contact with other people with a personal message system.
The downside is: We were not able to move the old topics to the new board. You can still reach them here so feel free to copy & paste everything important. the old board was actually not that old so I hope we can take the loss and move on with fresh topics and hopefully the all people from the old board.
Important: Your milkboys account DOES NOT work with the new forum. I’m honestly sorry about that but I didn’t find any usable software which would allow us to use the WordPress user database :( So you have to sign up for a new account at the board. Your Gravatar goes with you of course.

There was an add-on for vBulletin that connected the forum and WordPress but one of the stipulations was they had to be on the same domain. Didn’t think you’d want to do that, Josh.

I considered vBulletin until I realised it would cost $180 :(

I’ve used it for 4 years now. Worth it in my opinion but I’m highly biased.

I find it confusing. I will probably just go back to lurking.

Iif you ever used a forum at all you would agree that a dedicated forum software is superior to the wordpress patchwork of the old board in every conceivable way. I really don’t see how this is confusing or disappointing?

vBulletin is totally awesome, though I agree that 180 is just silly. I can see on aarinfantasy.com that this software is really massive and caters to needs that I didn’t even know I had… But smf is just fine.

vBulletin is one hell of a nice software package but the only problem that exists with it at the moment is many new forum administrators get overwhelmed at the mass amount of modifications they need to do within the control panel to get the forum how they want.

If the forum is still fun for everyone in a few months we could still switch to vB. At least there are converters to get your stuff from SMF to vvB.
