From my point of view the “problem” is, that for many decades, in many countries short hair was another form of “social control and uniformity”. Someone with an individual hairstyle is probably “out of control”.

I grew up in the 1960s when long hair became a symbol of generational divide. I can remember all the adults complaining about the Beatles, hippies, etc. I went to Catholic school and we couldn’t grow our hair very long at all. Kirban is correct; it was all very much a “control” thing. Maybe it’s part of my desire to relive my youth, but I prefer boys and men with short hair. Although I think long hair can be beautiful too. The boy in the picture above is stunning.

What’s wrong about long hair? Gonna teel you what’s wrong about it: You gotta wash it and comb it, it takes much longer to dry, it’s getting dreads, you allways got it in the face while playing Badminton, and the increasing weigh of it tears down your head-skin till you look like a friggin Ork. That’s all there’s wrong about it.
But seriously: It seems to be sort of a social paranoia that links all evil to a non-conformist look. It’s the result of generations of indoctrination. You won’t ever get rid of it within the next 10 or 20 (million) years. That’s wrong about it.
BTW: Apologies if I’m getting too personal, but it seems as if you’re getting more and more sort of fed up with stuff that simply shouldn’t ruin your day. At least some of your last angry posts (also on Milkboard) made it look like this. I hope you won’t let things “eat you up” (?). Anyway, somehow I like them angry shouts…
I’ve been known to think that about some kids, but less because I disapprove of long hair (I don’t) than because some boys simply don’t suit it.
Every boy has a particular style or length of hair that really works for them, and I think some grow theirs long just because it’s a “look” that they want to go for. Unfortunately it doesn’t always suit them. What DOES annoy me is when you have a boy that would look stunning with longer hair, but they persistently keep it short! Although I suppose the reverse would also apply, one kid i know in NC just plain looks like a girl with long hair, it’s not a good look for him, but he insisted on keeping it long for years. He got it cut just recently and we can finally see his face!
So yay for long hair when it looks good (like the pic you posted :P) and yay for SHORT hair when THAT looks good! hehe

I’ve always figured “get a haircut” comments” says more about the person making the comment. What decade are they living in? There are such a few short years that guys have a full head of hair. While you’ve got it, flaunt it!
The boy above appears to have bear a striking resemblance to the one in your ‘Community Challenge’ post. Is it the same boy but older or are they in some way related?
As for hair-style it is a personal choice with which one would assume the model feels comfortable with and I agree that nobody should be allowed to dictate how another should ‘wear’ their hair. If you think it looks awful keep it to yourself, if you think it looks good compliment them.

Are people (adults?) still whining about long hair? I thought that was so 60’s. I remember spending a summer at the beach on the coast and not seeing my parents and not getting my hair cut. It was gorgeous. My mother loved it. My father hated it. I was in the military for awhile so it wasn’t very long, but as soon as I was out I was back in college and my hair grew down below my shoulders.
I also hate this fucking idea that long hair is bad. in my school teachers dont let us to have long hair, when the hair touch our ears the send us to cut it and i have to wait until i graduate.

I have to say that I prefer my boys to look masculine and while he can wear his hair any length he wants, for my taste I prefer he doesn’t look so girly. Maybe even with short hair he would look girly. He certainly is very pretty and I wouldn’t mind some time with him.

Honestly, though, I haven’t heard many people complain about long hair on boys the way you describe. That sounds like a very dated attitude.
Having said that, I’ll admit that my personal preference is short(er) hair, about 75% of the time. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with long or short hair. But you can’t really argue against personal tastes either.

So Josh…. you’re setting up a scenario where one is allowed to state a preference for long hair but if one makes it clear that they prefer the opposite, they’re told “fuck off my pond”? I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you don’t mean to extend it quite that far, but that’s the end result. I run into this all the time – people try to delegitimize the preferences of others by lying and putting them into a false category (e.g. backward, bigoted, unenlightened, etc.) while reserving their right to blatantly state their own preferences whenever they want. If you want another example of this, think of the cut/uncut issue. You’ll hear some people constantly inject how they prefer uncut. But let someone state that they don’t like uncut, and the reaction is likely to be personal trashing with the insinuation that your preferences are less legitimate or even ignorant, bad or wrong. These are nothing more than disguised tactics designed to elevate elevate one’s own personal preference while trying to discredit others. Personal preferences of this sort should be seen as equal.
If that’s too wordy, the short version is that some of us don’t like being told to fuck off simply because we’ve stated a preference.

You got this totally wrong, I never said there is a problem with short hair or a preference for short hair. I said I have a problem with people assuming ONLY short hair is “good”. People are free to dislike long hair, it just annoys me if they express their dislike with stupid phrases like “get a hair cut” like everyone has to follow their preferences.
I Think that many boys and young men could do with longer hair, it can look really cute. It should be chosen and maybe some of those who pick (which happens) on those with longer hair do so because they would like it for themselves but do not have the balls. However by about 30 yrs old most men can not get away with long hair, and don’t even mention beer-bellies, long hair, beards and leather, though the leather may be nice. My personal idea is also that many boys and young men cannot however get away with facial hair, now that can look sruffy.
let people be free to choose if I OR YOU think that they could look better a diiferent way it is up to the to ask.

I’ve found myself asking questions about my preferences in a similar vane. I prefer the look of men shorter, thinner, and more delicate. Girly. Prolly why’ve become addicted to looking at teens. Does this come from a hetero side? Is that why I like longer hair?
On the other hand, youngs teens wear their hair long and messy as a statement. Its the style. (And its really fucking cute.) Is that why I like longer hair?

Some people simply look better with short hair.
I know I’ve advised a friend to cut his hair because I know based on his facial structure that it will accentuate his features in nicer manner than with long hair.
Even my own hair, I have a squarer jawline and larger features, having long hair for years muddled my features. Not to mention caused me very annoying skin problems.
So the assumption that someone who says, “he needs a haircut” means that everyone needs short hair seems to be an ill-formed one. It could simply mean that someone thinks that a particular boy would look better with short hair.
Like saying, “he needs to wear more flattering clothing.”
On the note of your ranting, I’ve enjoyed it. I typically find myself agreeing with some of what you say.

What wrong with long hair I think it sexy. Short hair is ok too if a person likes it. I had to wear short hair when I was a kid but once I became an adult I let it grow out. From my point of view it is up to the individual whatever makes them happy and if it makes them happy it should tickle the shit out of us:-) We have more important issues to worry about than hair like the economy.
