Why does the memorial have to show two men kissing? Sorry, but homosexuality is about FAR more than that.

Almost all homophobia comes from men who are threatened by their own sexuality. If you scratch the surface you will find a man so deep in the closet he doesn’t even know he’s in there. those kissing men must have hit a nerve.

The gay memorial should be made of unbreakable, bullet-proof and bomb-proof material with a video enactment of a few choice pages from William Burrough’s *The Wild Boys*. Then on alternating weeks an enactment from almost any page of *Hogg* by Samuel R. Delany. That book is narrated by an 11 year old boy who is a willing & eager participant in some of the greatest sex scenes I have ever read dealing with his relationship with an older man. It is my favourite book exactly for the reasons that Delany has stated about it. Here’s just one:
“Among the tasks the novel attempts is to mark out a discursive field in which, by the end, the reader can no longer even say the words ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ without putting them in quotation marks, ironizing them, or somehow or other placing them sous rature.”
-Samuel R. Delany, “The Making of Hogg”, Fiction International, 1997, and Shorter Views, Wesleyan University Press, 1999 p.308
