Sorry to complain about something free, but I’m having trouble with rapidshare.
I generally always have problems with that site (wait to download, long wait between parts, very slow speeds). I was wondering if there is a reason why http://www.mediafire.com isn’t more often used? It has no wait to download, and no wait between parts.
I understand if there is a reason why you prefer not to use that service, but it would be much more convenient than rapridshare.

so i downloaded it and i like it from a film point of view. the cinematography and such. but i don’t understand most of it. anyone want to fill me in?
i take it the boy (leo?) is insecure at the nudist camp and the girl (antonette?) is trying to expand his horizons. eventually leo overcomes his insecurities and all that but what is going on in the last 5 minutes? ie. the conversation wtih his mother at the table, the scene where he gropes his mother and then runs to the woods, etc?

In the last 5 minutes :
conversation at the table : Leo (the boy) cooked mushrooms for his mother but is disappointed because she doesn’t have any reaction.
the scene where he gropes his mother : she asks him while sleeping “Leo put your hands on my breasts”. Leo is also mother’s lover first name.
He runs to the woods shouting that mushrooms aren’t the cause of his condition (hotness and rapid pulse). Leo (the boy) asks Leo (the man) about mushrooms. He tells him they aren’t dangerous or hallucinogenic so the boy understands that this feeling is love. He convinves his mother to leave early and doesn’t want to say goodbye to Antoinette (the girl).
I hope that is clear because it’s not easy to explain in english !! ;)

As a filmmaker I always admire these movies, they are really very clever.
It’s a study on how to make films about on nudism, without actually showing …nudity (at least not the young ones).
Now that requires a good deal of hard work, very careful camera planning, a tight script, and a huge amount of work in the editing room. This is what we call in the business ‘a film that was made in the montage suite’ Just imagine,- how many shots need to be rejected, how many reshaped to avoid seeing what the film is about.
They did that in ‘Stand by me’: one of the leads was able to see, observe, then rip off a leech in an awkward place without moving his garment more than half an inch. No that’s clever! I wouldn’t know how to do that myself.
In certain past periods also, sculptors were very dab hands at beautifully crafting vine leaves (only on adults this time), and made them feel just so natural…

But why trying in the first place?
I mean in this film the girl is nude all the time (which I find pretty sexist ’cause she is handled other than the boy as like nude girls are ok, nude boys are not) and the boy is seen nude in one scene too (even if it’s just from the distance)…
…but what is the point of putting so much energy just into hiding nudity? I’d understand in a film where the nudity isn’t a necessary part of the plot (e.g. En tu Ausencia) but if people are in a nudist camp in a film… are we so afraid of our own body?

Regarding Rapidshare: No, I won’t use any other service for now, sorry guys.
From the milkboys FAQ:
Let me explain why we use Rapidshare:
1. It’s a known site. If you ask anybody out there to name one hosting site, 99% of them would probably say Rapidshare. People feel at ease uploading to it and downloading from it because they know it is a well established site, it won’t give them viruses, it’s not an FBI operation, etc.
2. On all hosting services you need a paid account to store files forever, not just for a month. When you download files we upload to Rapidshre we get Points. With this points we get the paid account for free.
3. Rapidshare don’t give out IPs of up- and downloaders. On MegaUpload most of us have seen the cryptic message “this file removed in accordance with blah blah blah child protection, the uploader’s IP is xx.xx.xx.xx and has been forwarded to the authorities for investigation” and many other sites have all kinds of warnings about what they’ll do to you if you upload the wrong type of file, but Rapidshare has it’s server in Switzerland and allows anyone to upload anything and if any upload is bad they simply remove it without any further action.
4. No annoying ads on Rapidshare. You don’t have to deal with pop ups and layer ads and other things that slow the upload/download or even infect you with malware.
5. It let me upload files in a batch and directly from my computer instead of using a browser window.

Well I downloaded from Rapidshare, extracted, inserted the password, and played the movie without a problem. Neat little film – pity there were not more nude shots of the boy, but I can see what they were trying to do. Thanks Josh for a great site – do you have any spare time?

For those with password problems (anywhere) I suggest typing the password instead of copy & paste.
Windows just loves to add an extra blank when you paste and that’s usually the problem. I’ve also seen cases where other formatting characters (not printed) are embedded in a paste.
I think Rapidshare is the most reliable file hosting service.
I uploaded these at about 80KB/s with no problem and I’m not a paid subscriber.
Yea, as a “free loader” I do have to wait in-between downloads. So I simply lower my expectations and know I want be able to watch the download until later in the day. If you must have your downloads NOW, then pay the subscription fee. It’s that plain-n-simple :)

i have problems too but just download the 3 parts and open anyone with the pass and ready(i use mac) i saw that movie Du Poil sous les Roses it was cool. my french is not the best but was ok for this short. thanks josh.

Tried this rapid share several times and on each time it crashed/stopped/failed at 4% so I’m guessing it only works for those who pay. I think it should be renamed as rapid PAY as it certainly isn’t sharing.

The film was downloaded more than 1500 times by now, only about 100 of those downloads were made by paying users. Must be definitely a problem on your system :/

After watching this,I can’t help but wonder why, with all the rampant nudity of men and women including the lead girl, why was the boy barely shown at all?He was shown once, but from a distance, and that’s it.Makes no sense at all.

I just watched an interview of the man who made this short (in French).
He was continuously banned from shooting this film for over three years. The only way he could do it was have the girl be 23 years old (she was 23 at time of shoot), and …wait for this one… the boy never appears naked: he was fitted with a small ‘jock-strap’ the same shape and colour…!
Now this one even amazed me… that’s wild.
We will laugh cynically at this silly era.
