Those are electronic drums. He may have the headphones on so he can hear the drums, although they are sometimes played through amplifiers, like electric guitars or other electronic instruments. If he’s only using the headphones all the neighbors hear is sticks and beaters hitting the mesh drum heads and rubber cymbals.

Horrible. I took about 19 seconds of this aural torture before I terminated the clip; I’ll not watch or listen to it ever again. The difference between this vid and FunTwo’s champion-hit-on-YouTube guitar accompaniment to “Canon” is, to me, astronomical. Yeah, the kid is good, and this is interesting because of his young age. But, to me, this hardly ranks as less agonizing than a multiple root canal sans anaesthesia. I guess it’s a personal thing, but I think any music clip ought to display discipline and evolution, that is, that it goes somewhere. This doesn’t, at least as far as I was able to take it in. Thanks for posting it, though; we need to be exposed to all sorts of stuff. I love filling the contrarian role, so blast away, you fans of this nebish electronic-skin-pounder; I can take it. But I can’t take any more of his “performing”.

He has four other video on youtube. All sound the same. The style of music he likes offers very little in substance or variety. It did bring a smile to my face. He is loving it and will bang on for many happy years. When he calms down, and tries some other styles, it will be worth the listen. He does have talent. Plenty of endurance. Energizer Bunny has some competition.

Matt Roberts, I don’t see why anyone would have an issue with your personal preferences. The problem I DO have is how you could have such a strong opinion about a video you didn’t even watch.

Riiight… you mean the entire 19 seconds you took in? Wow you’re very astute.
Actually WATCHING a clip will give you so much more credibility when you review it.
Also, this kid wasn’t playing a drum solo. He was playing the drum part of a song.
If you took any of your favorite rock songs and listened to JUST the drum part guess what? It will sound repetitive because it is!
What this kid is doing is amazing to say the least. And that’s not a personal preference it’s fact. Ask any musician.

@AbeOrigine It bothers me when someone makes a joke and I don’t recognize. I also make a lot of jokes that don’t get recognized as jokes and have come to terms with that. Now my primary goal is to amuse myself. In the process, however, a lot of people have concluded that I’m a bit “off”, which I probably am.

@Steevee I watched the new video with the sound off and it was far more enjoyable. That boy got riddim man.
As for my ‘jokes’ they are largely based on irony (some harshly call it sarcasm) and I have found that a lot of Americans have difficulty grasping this type of humour so you’re not alone. it’s obviously a clash of cultures or a break down of communication which seems to be the norm between America and England (‘friendly fire’ is a good example) but I’d be keen to see/hear an example of your jokes so I could judge for myself.
You being ‘off’ means you are not the norm which makes you special and in my eyes that is a good thing in a world of conformist sheep. As I said before don’t beat yourself up over it, there are a lot of assholes on this planet but the fact it ‘bothers you’ what people think would indicate to me that you are not one of them!

Ok, he got some skills…, he moves pretty fast but how real is this? Just befor the boys starts you can hear 4 beeps from the drumcomputer besides hem…
