Long known as a hub for electronic and comic geeks, Tokyo’s Akihabara district is now a battleground for role-play based maid cafes. In the latest twist to popular maid cafes, Japanese boys cross-dress and fill in for women to serve the patrons.
“Bakabakashii” is how maids in this unique troupe explain its appeal. That means silly. Hibaritei features “maids” who are men. In Akihabara, it’s common to see men dressed as maids or their favorite anime characters, but this trend has reached new heights with the launch of cross-dressing maid troupe Hibaritei. In a twist, the cross-dressing maids are all weekday salarymen who are straight, most having girlfriends. These men are not financially troubled in any way. Most work in IT companies and come to Akiba often because of work.

please tell me that was an April fools joke, that’s got to be the stupidist thing I’ve ever seen (well, maybe other then our president trying to deliver a speech on television with more then single syllable words) especially the extra service of drawing pictures on the omlets with ketchup

The speakers are very annoying, but this video / this idea is quite cool.
I don’t want to be attended by maids myself, but this gendercrossing idea is nice.
I’m sorry for being too large for a maid, it would have been a very cool job to earn money while staying in Japan. (Way more exiting than teaching German and other boring jobs you can take as a gaijin student.)

The maids are a team who usually change the cafes where they serve.
I ve found their website http://www.hibari-tei.com/ (japanese)
