Aye Pirates!
In their ever continuing battle to free the Internet, The Pirate Bay has now launched an uncensored blogging service, called BayWords. The service is intended to be a safe haven for bloggers who want to be able to write whatever they want, without being afraid to get shut down by their blog host. The new service is powered by WordPress, and although it doesn’t a full set of features to compete with existing players (like domain redirects) the Pirate Bay team said that they’d add additional features later. Blogs on the service are currently ad free, but will have advertising in the future.
We’re proud to present a new service – baywords.com. Because of the need of freedom of speech and secure hosting facility of the words being said we could not agree to how people behave towards bloggers. Many blogs are being shut down for uncomfortable thoughts and ideas. We will not do that. Our goal is to protect freedom of speech and your thoughts. As long as you don’t break any Swedish laws in your blog, we will defend it.

So if you’re looking for a free speech blogging service – give them a try. Unfortunately you get only 100 MB webspace, too less for milkboys, but that should be ok for a normal blog if you can outsource your pictures to flickr or a similar service.

Maybe Karl Andersson could tell you a thing or two about breaking Swedish laws! Even when he didn’t break any laws, didn’t the Swedish Parliament threaten him with passing a special law against his magazine? Sheesh!!!
They’ll protect your freedom of speech the same way George W. Bush does.
What about these new draconian laws going into effect soon in Germany? It sounds as if that might be the Third Reich redux. Where can one read exactly what these new laws are?

It’s a whole bunch of laws. Most of them are reality in the US but yeah… Third Reich is the right diction.
- All communication data are stored for 6 months now (your IP, whom you called, where you was when you called him with your mobile phone etc.). They told people they will use this data only against terrorists of course but guess what… a few days ago they decided to use this data to identify filesharers too… such a suprise…
- They decided to spy on people with software (the “federal trojan”) to check everything they do on they home computers and some German federal states even want to break into your house if they can’t get their trojan on your PC via the internet. Same game here: they try to tell us it’s just to prevent terror… sure.
- The new sexual law (not active yet but discussed): Every picture and video with somebody under 18 or somebody who looks like under 18 is child porn – even if the protagonist isn’t nude but posing in a way that could be interpreted as “provocative”. A 17 year old girl who sends her 17 year old boyfriend a nude picture of her via e-Mail could get punished for production and distribution of child porn… isn’t that crackbrained!?
…and so on, and so on.

Hardly likely, but many MPs would, no doubt, want to illegalize that sort of magazines. Most Swedes aren’t very sexually liberal, and there is some irrational ‘paedophile’ paranoia.

Is there anything the pirate bay doesn’t get up to these days? As with the 17 year olds sending pictures of themselves naked: 1. why would you do that: when you two break up, I don’t want people seeing me naked; 2. it’s all too true because I frequently read about people in America who go to JAIL for several years and when they come out they’re labeled as sex offenders. Fun?

Andrew, there are people in prison in America who never did anything sexual at all and were convicted of sex crimes. There are young children in America under 14 years old who have been placed for life on sex offenders registries for having been found guilty of things that one would hardly call sexual. In sexually fascist countries it is best not to do anything at all, not even to leave your house, and even there never think of owning a computer if one wants to be completely safe. You should never own a camera or possess a photograph even of yourself taken under the age of 30. Maybe you look young. Modern laws are concerned even with what you might think. The fun is only beginning!
By the way, there is nothing whatsoever of a sexual nature in Karl’s fine magazines which makes the Swedish fits of moral hysteria all the more absurd. Have you ever visited the “antiquities” wing of any good museum? Or even the wing dealing with Renaissance art in Europe? I am sure that lots more fun is just around the corner! I just can’t wait. Hot on the heels of Hushmail ratting out it customers if some kangaroo court or other makes a request. He-he.
